Quincy Davis
Montauk, NY

Adam Bartoshesky

Quincy Davis may only be 21 years young, but she has quickly become a household name in the surf world and by doing so has put her hometown of Montauk, New York further in the limelight as an east coast surf mecca. As a pro surfer, she spends most of the year traveling the world for contests, surf trips and photoshoots. So when she is home, Quincy stays in the basement level of her parents’ Tudor style house and is all about spending time with her family – and her extended family that is the tight knit local surf community in Montauk. Here she is at home during her favorite time of the year.

Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m 21 years old, traveling around the world with some of my best friends doing what I love to do surfing.

Where are you from?

Montauk, NY

What are your favorite parts about Montauk and the area in which you live?

The beautiful beaches and cliffs. Aside from the beauty, the surf community I grew up in here is also pretty special. It’s almost like a second family to me now.

What is a typical day like for you when you are home?

I usually wake up, check waves, surf if there’s a wave, if not I like to get a workout in. I change it up, right now I’m hooked on boxing and some hot yoga. I like to spend time with my friends while I’m home. Getting everyone together for bonfires or BBQs is a common thing we do in the summer. I also like to bike around or read on the beach. Montauk is pretty mellow, so when I need a change up I’ll go into the city and stay at a friend’s apartment for a few nights. I recently fell in love with NYC as I got older. It’s the coolest city in the world I think.

Tell us more about your home here. How long have you lived in this house?

I’ve lived in my home for 8 years now. My parents actually designed and built it, the old Tudor style is beautiful and so cozy in the winter! Before this home, I was moving every year around Montauk.

How often are you at home versus out on the road surfing?

I’m probably away 70 percent of the year and home the rest of the time.

You travel a lot. What are your five favorite surf destinations?

Puerto Rico, Tortola, Maldives, Mexico and Hawaii. ( I like the warmth! haha)

What about non-surf destinations?

Florence Italy is beautiful and I recently went to Ibiza, it was such a cool rad place. I’m obsessed – too bad there’s no surf there!

If your house was burning down and you could only get out with five items, what would you take?

Well, I know he’s not an item but my dog, my purse, passport, bikinis and makeup bag.

Any parting thoughts, words of wisdom, sage advice?

Always be you! And travel as often as you can – don’t pass up those opportunities.
