Roy Choi – Flavor of Los Angeles

Korean BBQ + Mexican food = taste bud orgasm. When Roy Choi and his business partner Mark Manguera came up with the idea of venturing into the food truck business back in 2008, no one would have imagined that they were about to create a totally unique, widely spread food phenomenon. The Kogi Korean BBQ enterprise and its chef Roy Choi are credited with inventing a hugely popular dish of the Korean-Mexican fusion cuisine: the Korean Taco. If you have not experienced the Kogi truck and you are in the LA area, I have to say, it is an absolute must. Considered an integral flavor of Los Angeles, Kogi will set up a pop-up restaurant in the second Avant/Garde Diaries Transmission Series event curated by Mike D. at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Transmission LA: AV Club runs from April 20 to May 6, 2012.
