Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself.

Molly Matalon, 24 year old virgo lady with a BFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts. Born in Florida and now I live in Oakland and work as an editorial photographer.

How did you first get into photography?

When I was a teenager I liked going to hardcore punk shows and taking pictures of bands that were playing. I was also really into taking portraits of my friends for their MySpace profile pictures. 

Film or digital?

I mostly feel like this question is irrelevant at this point. But since photographers are secret gear nerds. I shoot film for myself and for jobs if there is time and money for it. Digital for jobs with quick turnaround times.

When was the last time you used a single use (disposable) camera?

I used a disposable last summer in August. I took a day trip to Big Sur and didn’t bring enough film with me so I bought a disposable from a gas station out there and shot with it.

What did you decide to shoot with your camera for this project?

Well, I just kind of kept it in my bag and took pictures whenever seemed appropriate. 

Did you have any interesting experiences along the way?

A friend from out of town came to stay, I went to LA for a weekend, I assisted on a job.

What was the biggest challenge (if any) you had with the project?

I think my finger is in 3/4th’s of the pictures and it also looks like some of the film got fogged!

What was your favorite image from the roll?

Definitely the male nude of my friend on my bed.
