Biggest Teahupoo Ever Shot on The Phantom

The massive August 27th, 2011 swell that smashed into Teahupoo for the Billabong Pro was, well, massive. Camera operator Chris Bryan claims it’s the biggest Teahupoo to ever be captured on the super slow Phantom HD camera. It’s amazing that surfing a wave like this and slipping yourself delicately underneath the weight of a large building is still considered sport. There is so much beauty in it’s raw power and size that it’s somewhat easy to forget the very real and serious consequences of being at the mercy of such energy.
