For those of you who do not have HBO, that’s a bummer (OK, I don’t even have cable). This week on Real Sports With Bryant Gumble, they ran an amazing special on the king himself, our very own Kelly Slater.

OK, I don’t even have cable, I saw it at a friends house… This week on Real Sports With Bryant Gumble, they ran an amazing special on the king himself, our very own Kelly Slater. Jon Frankel hit the sandy beaches of Slater’s hometown, Cocoa Beach, Fla., for an inside look at the life of the world’s most accomplished surfer. They got into everything from Kelly’s childhood coming from a broken home, to dating models and actresses, to constantly traveling the world, to his goals for the future, competition, death, and even his brief stint on Baywatch.
It is in watching interviews like these that re-affirms our praise of Kelly as the best surfer in the world. There is hands down, no better ambassador or representative of our beloved sport and lifestyle than him. Despite all of his accomplishments, fame and success, he is a smart, humble, down to earth dude who seems to take nothing for granted. Kelly is the real deal. It is a great interview and can still be seen on HBO Go. In the meantime, you can check out these extra web only clips. Enjoy!
