A true sign of the times for modern surfing. This 22 minute long video of First Point, Malibu shot on 9/1, in the middle of the best south swell in 20 years gives a pretty accurate view into the SoCal crowded surf scene. I was out this Thursday morning with my younger brother, who just happened to be out visiting me that day from the east coast. He was amazed by the waves at Malibu, but absolutely floored by the crowd – it wasn’t surfing, it was battle! He’s the guy getting dropped in on by 5 other dudes.
A goofy-footed graphic designer who hails from the first state, Delaware. After attending Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL then graduating from SCAD in Savannah, GA with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration, Matt moved to NYC and found work as a freelance designer and art director. In 2006 he moved west to Venice, CA where he co-founded ITAL/C Studio and now resides a bit further north in Oxnard.
