Mechanics of Malibu

Malibu

Summer is finally here again, and you know what that means? For us left-coasters it means the beginning of a hopeful onslaught of south swells! Particularly for those of us in the LA area, it means lots of Malibu time complete with battling PCH traffic, lots of foot cuts, low tide seaweed swamp thing sessions, bitchy 3rd point bros, Carl, the first point beach scene, the unrivalled crowd factor, parking, and most importantly; the best rights of your life (or at least summer).

Check out this great Surfline article on this staple summer surf spot. It touches not only on the way the wave breaks and what swells and conditions are ideal, but it is also packed with local knowledge and the characters who rule the famous break. It is one of the best Malibu articles I have ever seen and it gets this goofy-footer super fired up to surf his backside all summer!
