Stanley's: A Lost Treasure

Stanley’s was a surf break in north Ventura County that was destroyed in 1970 to make room for California’s Highway 101. Considered to be one of the best waves on the California coast at the time, the break was erased as it was determined more costly to displace inland oil fields than to extend the highway over the coast.

A New Englander through and through, Drew grew up in Connecticut / New Hampshire and got over educated in Boston. He also lived on a beach in Southern California for some years. Film, photography, music and literature monopolize his time these days.
