Happy belated Star Wars day! To offset the shitty news that JJ Abrams is directing a new Star Wars episode with the weird looking guy from Girls, Vans just released this rad spot to introduce a special edition Vans x Star Wars collection launching June 2014. Filmed at the Vans Off the Wall Skatepark in Huntington Beach, CA of a skate contest set in 1980. After legendary skateboarder Christian Hosoi finishes his run, a rookie wookiee (played by another legend — Steve Caballero) rips the bowl and receives mixed scores from the judges. Tony Alva, Jeff Grosso and Vans surf team riders Leila Hurst and Alex Knost (doing his best Spicoli) can be seen cheering in the crowd alongside Stormtroopers, Jawas and Chewbacca. May the force be with you as you rip your next bowl section.
A goofy-footed graphic designer who hails from the first state, Delaware. After attending Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL then graduating from SCAD in Savannah, GA with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration, Matt moved to NYC and found work as a freelance designer and art director. In 2006 he moved west to Venice, CA where he co-founded ITAL/C Studio and now resides a bit further north in Oxnard.
